It is best to use a tripod when taking pictures to make up a panorama. Make sure that the camera is perfectly horizontal. I always start from the left and move to the right. As I take each frame I look to the right hand edge of the viewfinder for an object which is against that edge. As I move to the right for the next frame I make sure that the selected object is comfortably within the left hand edge of the viewfinder so as to achieve an overlap between the two images. This procedure is repeated for every subsequent frame. If you do not have a tripod you can still produce an acceptable result but you must proceed with care. Make sure that you do not tilt the camera up or down between exposures and use the highest practical shutter speed to eliminate camera shake. Using a wide angle lens will cut down the number of frames that you will need to cover the selected area. The use of a wide angle lens greatly assists in maintaining a good depth of field at higher shutter speeds which require larger diaphragm apertures.
